The Mazda6 is Getting the Turbocharged 2.2L Skyactiv-D Diesel Four-Cylinder Engine

The Mazda CX-5 Crossover and the Mazda6 now have something in common under the hood. A recently published CARB certification document showed that the turbocharged 2.2L Skyactiv-D diesel four-cylinder engine has been approved for sale in Mazda's mid-size sedan, specifically to the model-year 2020 Mazda6 with transmission "SA6".

Currently, it is still unknown whether the diesel will be available with front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, or both. The Mazda6 doesn't currently offer AWD in the US, but Mazda has indicated in the past that such a drivetrain was imminent. Stay tuned for more Mazda News from your friends at McDonald Mazda South!
