The Future of Mazda
In 2019, Mazda insiders hinted that the automaker has plans to join the likes of BMW and Mercedes by offering an all-new inline-six engine. As far as we know, that notion is still in the works, however, new information has come to light -- Mazda just filed a patent for a new 8-speed transmission. Is it a coincidence or a clue that the engine is on its way?
All we know is that inline-six engines, due to their length, are typically mounted facing front to back. If that's the case, it could mean great things are afoot -- like an even more powerful all-wheel-drive Mazda6. Or dare we say -- a rear-wheel-drive sports coupe?
